Officials: Vermont mom upset about losing custody fatally shoots children's services worker

BARRE, Vt. – Vermont state officials say a mother who was upset about losing custody of her child has fatally shot a Department for Children and Families worker.

Barre City Police Chief Tim Bombardier tells the Burlington Free Press (http://bfpne.ws/1MSXo0Z ) that the suspect has been taken into custody.

Officials say the female worker who was killed had just left the DCF office.

Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn says he has briefed the governor and lieutenant governor on the fatal shooting.
