A man in New York City who killed his mother and took a selfie with her severed head was found guilty Friday after a nearly month-long trial.

The Bronx jury took just hours to convict Bahsid McLean, 26, of second-degree murder and unlawful dissection of a human being, The New York Daily News reported.

“The defendant fatally stabbed his mother and then chillingly took photos with her mutilated corpse,” Darcel Clark, the Bronx district attorney, said in a statement. McLean's defense attorney said her client had mental issues.

McLean faces up to 25 years to life for killing his mother, 45-year-old Tanya Byrd, the paper reported. Authorities said at the time that he bought a two-foot power saw to carve her corpse after killing her.

Detectives said they recovered an image on McLean's phone showing the killer smirking and holding his mother's severed head.

McLean will be sentenced on Dec. 5.
