An argument led to a shooting that wounded a 19-year-old sophomore and sent North Carolina Central University into a brief lockdown Sunday night, cops said.
The university said in a statement that the shooting happened at approximately 11 p.m. EDT near the edge of campus in Durham. The statement said the student, who is not being identified, was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
NCCU sent a tweet from its official account around 11:15 p.m. Sunday that mentioned an "active shooter" and urged students to seek shelter "away from gunfire." The statement said an "all clear" was issued at 11:50 p.m.

WNCN reported that the street where the shooting took place runs between the university's football stadium and a parking structure.
University spokeswoman Ayana Hernandez said no arrests have been made. Campus police are investigating.
North Carolina Central University is a historically black college that is part of the University of North Carolina system. It has an enrollment of approximately 9,600 students. It is located approximately three miles across Durham from Duke University.
