A police officer in Pleasantville, N.Y., was suspended Monday after he apparently posted a racist comment on Facebook when referring to President Obama, The Journal News reported.
The paper identified the officer as Peter Burns. He was suspended for 60 days without pay or benefits, loses 25 vacation days among other disciplinary measures, the report said. He also issued an apology to the community and fellow police officers.
The controversial post was reportedly added to a Facebook page Burns operated. The post reportedly used a racial slur and read in part, "Go die in a shallow grave you Muslim commie…"
The mayor of Pleasantville called the post "offensive on many levels."
