Authorities have charged a western New York woman with drunk driving after police say her 9-year-old daughter wrote a note pleading for help from passing motorists.

Police in North Tonawanda say 38-year-old Bonnie Will of Tonawanda was intoxicated while driving her daughter and two other children, ages 8 and 12, when she suddenly stopped her car on a busy road Tuesday.

Police say her daughter wrote the words "please help us" on a piece of paper and held it up to a window in the car. Officials say a motorist stopped, saw the note and called police.

Will was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving drunk with children in her vehicle and child endangerment.

It wasn't known if she had a lawyer. Police officials weren't immediately available Friday for comment.
