Mom who pleaded guilty in baby's death found dead in cell

SARASOTA, Fla. – Authorities say a Florida woman accused of killing her 9-week-old infant has committed suicide in a Sarasota jail.

Kristen Bury pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter and was sentenced to 25 years in prison as part of a plea for testifying against the baby's father.

The Miami Herald (http://tinyurl.com/hcp3wqo) reported Tuesday that 33-year-old Bury was found unconscious Saturday in her county jail cell. No other details were released.

The death of baby Chance drew national attention last year. Authorities say the baby gasped for breath for hours after being beaten by his 36-year-old father Joseph Walsh. He faces second-degree murder and child neglect charges. Police say Chance eventually choked on a diaper wipe. Chance was buried near their home in Sarasota before his parents left Florida to start a new life.
