A 4-year-old girl in Michigan was injured Friday night in a bizarre incident involving a golf cart and a dog, fire officials said.

The incident happened at Blues, Brews, and BBQ in Westland, Michigan, about a 35-minute drive west of Detroit.

Westland Fire & Rescue said the department’s arson dog, Bella, was sitting on the seat of a golf cart being used for the event.

At some point, the dog jumped onto the floor and laid down across the accelerator pedal, causing the cart to lunge forward. Firefighters tried to steer the cart away from hitting anyone.

Before the fighters could bring the cart to a full stop, the golf cart hit a 4-year-old girl and the passenger side front tire ran over the girl’s left leg, Westland Fire & Rescue said.

"Fortunately, the child was back to eating her popcorn within minutes of the incident and within 10 minutes of the incident was back to jumping in the fire department bounce house," Westland Fire & Rescue said.
