A Massachusetts woman has admitted in court that she married three men to help them stay in the United States.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that Melissa Ann Lewis pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court to two counts of fraud and misuse of immigration visas.

Prosecutors said the 42-year-old woman took out marriage licenses in 2006 in Worcester and Southbridge, Mass. and Pawtucket, R.I. with three men in exchange for cash. The men are from Ghana, China and Kenya.

They say the men wanted to use the marriages to convince federal immigration officials to allow them to stay in the United States.

Lewis is scheduled to be sentenced this fall. She faces fines and up to 10 years in prison for each charge. Prosecutors have recommended a reduced sentence.
