OKEMAH, Okla. – An Oklahoma man accused of fatally shooting two young girls, then killing his fiancee three years later, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Kevin Sweat was sentenced Friday to three life sentences. He pleaded guilty in the 2008 deaths of 11-year-old Skyla Whitaker and 13-year-old Taylor Paschal-Placker, whose deaths went unsolved until he was arrested in the 2011 killing of his fiancee, Ashley Taylor.

Sweat's sentencing was delayed after a commotion that occurred as he was being brought to the courtroom. District Attorney Max Cook has released little information, but he says Sweat remained in custody the entire time.

Sweat pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree murder earlier this year, in exchange for prosecutors agreeing to drop the death penalty.
