A man arrested in Trinidad this year after 16 years on the run has pleaded not guilty to charges related to the fatal shooting of a man outside a New York wedding in 1999.

Balkumar (BAHL'-kah-mahr) Singh entered the pleas Monday on murder, assault, weapons and other charges in Nassau County court.

He wasn't represented by an attorney. A judge says Singh will be provided with a court-appointed lawyer at his next court date.

Prosecutors say Singh got into an argument with 19-year-old Queens resident Abzal Khan after attending a June 1999 wedding in Hicksville. Prosecutors say Singh fired numerous times, killing Khan.

Singh was featured on "America's Most Wanted" in 2009.

Prosecutors say he was arrested in Trinidad in March after authorities were tipped off to his whereabouts.

This story has been corrected to show the victim's last name is spelled Khan, not Kahn.
