A Massachusetts man found guilty of killing his cousin in a bar parking lot over their failed business partnership has told a judge he was wrongfully convicted.

Peter Jasper was sentenced Monday to a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole. The Worcester (WUS'-tur) resident was convicted last week of murder in the December 2014 shooting death of Paul Milluzzo.

Jasper says he didn't shoot his cousin. He says he knew a man who wanted to rob his cousin and went to watch without intervening.

Milluzzo's mother said in a victim impact statement she lost a "one-of-a kind, special son."

Milluzzo was found with multiple gunshot wounds outside his vehicle in the parking lot of Smitty's Tavern. He was from Leicester (LEHS'-tuhr).
