DETROIT – A key witness in the fatal shooting of a 7-year-old girl is back on the stand, testifying slowly and softly about a Detroit police raid that killed her granddaughter in 2010.
It's in total contrast to Mertilla Jones' testimony last week when she sobbed, yelled and pointedly blamed Officer Joseph Weekley for the death of Aiyana Stanley-Jones.
Judge Cynthia Gray Hathaway warned Jones not to "act out" Tuesday.
Weekley is charged with involuntary manslaughter. He insists he accidentally pulled the trigger during a raid when Jones grabbed his gun, but she denies any interference.
A Detroit police unit was looking for a murder suspect when they threw a stun grenade through a window and burst into the home.
A jury last year couldn't reach a verdict in Weekley's first trial.
