Jurors have started deliberating in the capital murder trial of an escaped Arizona prison inmate accused of killing a retired Oklahoma couple while on the run.

The deliberations began Thursday in the case against John McCluskey, after the prosecution spent weeks presenting a parade of witnesses, dozens of photographs and forensic evidence.

McCluskey's defense team called no witnesses and said there is a mountain of doubt surrounding the moments in which Gary and Linda Haas of Tecumseh, Okla., were killed.

Prosecutors countered that McCluskey came out of the couple's travel trailer covered in blood.

McCluskey is facing numerous charges related to the August 2010 carjacking and slayings. If convicted, he could face a possible death sentence.

The defense and prosecution wrapped up their closing arguments late Wednesday.
