• In 2005, the most recent statistics available, approximately 11.7 million adults shopped monthly at one or more of Florida's 3,839 retailing centers.

• U.S. retail sales in Dec 2009 for stores open at least a year rose 2.9% compared to Dec 2008.
• Through first 11 months of 2009, retail store sales totaled an estimated $3.310 trillion .
• Retail store sales through first 11 months of 2009 was 8.3% decline from the first 11 months of 2008.
Retail sales employment
• Retail salespersons held about 4.5 million jobs in 2008.
• In addition, about 156,500 retail salespersons were self-employed.
