A 16-year-old boy has died of multiple gunshot wounds in Burlington.

Lt. Jeff Klein, commander of Burlington's criminal investigation division, told The Hawk Eye police were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday after neighbors reported hearing gunshots.

Officers searched the area and found the boy dead of multiple gunshot wounds in bushes behind a garage.

Witnesses told police they saw two vehicles drive away from the area after hearing the gunshots.

Detectives were interviewing neighbors Thursday morning.

Authorities will not release the name of the victim until family is notified. The shooting remains under investigation and Klein says no suspects are in custody.
