Investigators try to make sense of bloody scene where pregnant woman died; baby survived

Investigators are trying to make sense of a bloody scene in New York where a pregnant woman was fatally stabbed while a newborn was found breathing outside.

The chaos unfolded Friday afternoon in the Bronx. A 22-year-old woman was taken into custody screaming that the baby was hers. She's accused of attacking the victim, also 22 and nearly nine months pregnant.

The victim was pronounced dead at a hospital with multiple stab wounds to the torso and neck. The newborn was in good condition.

On Saturday, no charges had been filed and no names yet released.

Investigators were questioning the victim's boyfriend and taking blood samples to determine who exactly had given birth.
