Important documents of past presidents going to auction

NEW YORK – John F. Kennedy's notes for a 1960 campaign speech and a fragment of George Washington's draft of his first inaugural address are among presidential documents going to auction.

The sale by Lion Heart Autographs will be Oct. 26 in New York.

JFK's notes reference his famous campaign slogan "The New Frontier." The document could sell for up to $3,500.

Washington's handwritten speech fragment could sell for up to $150,000.

Also being offered is the front page of The New York Times from Sept. 12, 2001. It's signed by five U.S. presidents who were attending a service for 9/11 victims in Washington. The headline above a photo of the burning towers reads: "U.S. Attacked: Hijacked Jets Destroy Twin Towers and Hit Pentagon in Day of Terror." Its presale estimate is $6,000 to $8,000.
