PHILADELPHIA -- The Coast Guard is suspending its search of the Delaware River after finding no evidence to support a woman's claim that she had thrown her baby and two young children off a bridge.
Lt. Commander Stephanie Brennell, with the Coast Guard in Philadelphia, says the search was suspended around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Brennell says crews searching the river never found anything and that the woman who made the unconfirmed report has not been located.
Authorities had been searching the river since around 4 a.m. Tuesday.
That's when officials say the woman called a Philadelphia hospital and said she was in Camden, N.J., and had thrown her newborn baby, her 4-year-old and her 2-year-old off the Ben Franklin Bridge.
