Florida police hunt for Department of Children and Families imposter

Police in Florida say a man is approaching families posing as a Department of Children and Families employee, MyFoxOrlando reports.

The unidentified man contacted a family in Orlando claiming he was sent to take custody of their one-year-old granddaughter. The resident told the impostor that his granddaughter was not living in the home and then contacted police, MyFoxOrlando reports.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-8 white man in his mid to late 30s, with a clean-cut hairstyle.

He was last seen wearing a blue polo shirt and slacks with a gold badge around his neck. The resident believes the badge had the words "Department of Children and Families" on it, along with the state seal, MyFoxOrlando reports.

The Orlando Police Department released a composite sketch of the individual and asked the public for their help. If anyone has seen an individual matching this description or has had any contact with this individual, please call Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.
