MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – A Florida equestrian center where 22 horses were poisoned by tainted feed has reached a settlement with the company that produced and sold the feed.

The attorney representing Masterpiece Equestrian Center in Davie and the owners of 20 of the horses says the terms of the settlement are confidential. Andy Yaffa said Monday his clients will be able to care for their ailing horses and purchase new horses.

Lakeland Animal Nutrition has said the contamination was limited to the feed at Masterpiece. General Manager Jonathan Lang said the company has honored its pledge to bring restoration to the equestrian center.

Six of the horses have died since October, including two euthanized Friday. The deaths are blamed on an additive safe for cattle and some poultry but toxic to horses.
