LOS ANGELES – The widow and children of a Transportation Security Administration agent killed by a gunman at Los Angeles International Airport are suing for $25 million.
The liability lawsuit filed Tuesday alleges that security lapses and delayed medical care contributed to the death of Gerardo Hernandez last November.
The 39-year-old was killed and three other people were wounded when a gunman with a grudge against the TSA entered a terminal and opened fire. Hernandez was the first TSA worker to die in the line of duty.
Paul Ciancia has pleaded not guilty to murder.
The lawsuit names the airport, the city, police, fire, other agencies and Los Angeles County.
A spokesman says the city attorney's office doesn't comment on pending litigation. A message for the county counsel's office wasn't immediately returned.
