A 35-year-old Detroit mother has been charged with murder after two of her children's bodies were found last week in a deep freezer in her apartment.

The Wayne County prosecutor's office says Wednesday in a release that the original child abuse charges against Mitchelle Blair have been amended to add felony murder, premeditated murder and torture charges.

Blair is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charges Thursday during a probable cause hearing.

Court officers who were carrying out an eviction March 24 found the frozen corpses of 13-year-old Stoni Ann Blair and 9-year-old Stephen Gage Berry. Autopsies showed they had been beaten to death.

Blair's two surviving children, ages 8 and 17, have been placed into a relative's care.

Defense attorney Wyatt Harris declined to comment Wednesday.
