BOSTON – A Boston police officer shot while responding to a dispute between roommates has been released from the hospital.
Officer Matthew Morris left Massachusetts General Hospital on Saturday after spending more than a week recovering from his injuries in the firefight, the police department announced on Twitter. Morris has been transferred to a rehabilitation facility where he'll continue his recovery.
Police Commissioner William B. Evans said in a tweet that it was "great to see Matt getting better" and thanked supporters for their prayers.
Morris and fellow officer Richard Cintolo were shot multiple times as they responded to a domestic disturbance in East Boston on Oct. 12. Both officers underwent several surgeries. Cintolo was discharged Wednesday. The man who shot them, 33-year-old Kirk Figueroa, was killed by police.
