BALTIMORE – Baltimore Police have charged a 14-year-old boy with vehicular manslaughter after authorities say he ran a red light in a stolen car and hit a third-grader in front of her school, killing her.
Police spokesman T.J. Smith said at a news conference that officers arrested the youth at his home on Friday. Smith says he is charged as a juvenile.
Police said Thursday that the car ran a red light, collided with a car and hit a crossing guard and Amirah Kinlaw, killing her.
Police say a Jeep struck several parked cars before stopping.
Amirah died at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Smith says the driver of a car that the Jeep hit was seriously hurt. The crossing guard had non-life-threatening injuries.
