The Arizona Diamondbacks liked being in sole possession of first place so much they won when trailing after eight innings for just the second time this season.

Paul Goldschmidt's pinch-hit, two-run homer in the ninth inning sent the game to extras, where Chris Young's three-run blast in the 10th gave the Diamondbacks a dramatic 8-5 victory over the downtrodden Houston Astros.

J.J. Putz (2-2) hurled a 1-2-3 inning of relief in the 10th to earn the win, Arizona's fourth in five games.
