It looks like Gio Gonzalez and the rest of the Washington Nationals had a lot of fun with their rookie players following Sunday night’s lose to the New York Mets.

Taking to his twitter account, the National’s star pitcher tweeted some revealing photos of his newest teammates.

In the first tweet Gonzalez wrote, “The 2012 Olympians that didn’t make the cut this year” along with a photo of the team’s rookies, including rising star Bryce Harper, wearing red women’s gymnastics leotards.

The rookies’ new form fitting “uniforms”, along with faux Olympic medals, left little to the imagination.

Gonzalez continued by tweeting that his teammates “Wore our colors proudly” as he showed another photo of the players in the outfits getting ready to board a train in New York.

All in good fun, the rookies didn’t seem to mind taking part in the hazing ritual, which has become an annual tradition for the Nationals team.

Just last year the Nationals made their latest crop of rookies dress up like the blue cartoon characters the Smurfs.

Since their playoff spot is already secure with a 5 game lead in the National League East, it seems as though Gonzalez and the rest of the Nationals are trying to take the pressure off a bit until the real competition begins in October.

Gonzalez, who is tied for the most wins in the majors with Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, is a likely National League Cy Young Award candidate.

However right now Gonzalez is focused more on his team than his own personal achievements.

"We're playing such great baseball, it's selfish of me to think of myself," Gonzalez said. "Individual stuff is nice, but all said and done it's a team thing."
