New faces, new coaching staff, new era for the San Francisco 49ers.

Despite all the roster turnover and a tumultuous offseason, Vernon Davis believes the team has the talent to be successful come fall.

"I feel great about the team," Davis said, via the team website. "I'm definitely optimistic about it. That's the way you want to be. I feel like we have the right pieces in place to win games."

After an 8-8 finish last season and key players retiring or leaving in free agency, the 49ers face a daunting task of improving upon that record in 2015.

Two encouraging signs this preseason have been the play of NaVorro Bowman and the emergence of former rugby star Jarryd Hayne (should he make the final 53-man roster).

Still, a lot will have to go right for the 49ers to even be competitive in a competitive NFC West division.
