COOKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) Jared Davis threw two touchdowns - including the game-winner - and ran for another to lead Tennessee Tech to a 29-22 victory over Mercer on Saturday night.

Davis completed 18 of 26 passes for 301 yards for the Golden Eagles (1-2, 1-0). Both of his scoring passes were to Krys Cates who finished the day with 197 yards.

The Golden Eagles wasted no time as Davis hit Cates for a 74-yard touchdown on the second play of the game. Davis ran it in from 7 yards for another score early in the second quarter and Tennessee Tech led 21-12 at the break.

In the third quarter, Mercer's Jagger Lieb hit his third field goal and quarterback John Russ ran for a score to help the Bears go ahead 22-21.

Davis put the Golden Eagles back on top for good with an 8-yard touchdown pass to Cates with 1:47 left.
