The start of the game between No. 6 Georgia and No. 24 South Carolina has been delayed by rain and lightning.

Officials announced the delay about 30 minutes before the scheduled kickoff. There was no immediate time set for the game to begin.

Rain fell intermittently at Williams-Brice Stadium with lightning strikes within an eight-mile radius of the venue.

NCAA and Southeastern Conference rules call for at least a 30-minute wait once a lightning strike is detected in the area. Neither team had been out on the field to warm up.

The sixth-ranked Bulldogs (1-0, 0-0 SEC) have lost in their past two trips at South Carolina (1-1, 0-1).
