Soccer player at Tennessee college hits four basketball shots worth $10,000
{{#rendered}} {{/rendered}}At a preseason event earlier this week for the men's basketball team at Bryan College, a Christian school in Tennessee, Gustavo Angel Tamayo made an unlikely combination of basketball shots to win himself $10,000.
Tamayo had to make a lay-up, a free throw, a three-pointer and a bomb from midcourt without missing a shot – all in less than 30 seconds and getting his own rebounds to boot.
According to the Chattanooga Times Free Press, Tamayo grew up in England, is a senior and an athlete and a member of the college's soccer team. But he has never played basketball.

His half-court shot dropped through the basket just as time expired.
"I'm not sure there's a tougher contest," Don Rekoske, the Bryan basketball coach, told the Times Free Press. "He had to go four-for-four, and you have to be hurried to make it within 30 seconds. It's a very tough contest to win, but when you win you get paid for it. He won $10,000; some will probably go toward his school bill and some in his pocket."

Tamayo is a senior who presumably doesn't have too much tuition left to pay, but he isn't likely to hang onto his earnings for long.
"Everyone wants a piece of the pie, so I guess I'm just going to hand out $1 bills," he said.
