Gelsenkirchen, Germany – Schalke has signed goalkeeper Timo term injury suffered choice goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann.
Fahrmann damaged cruciate ligaments in his knee in last weekend's match with Kaiserslautern and will miss a significant amount of time.
Hildebrand spent last season in Portugal with Sporting Lisbon but has been without a club since the summer.
The former Germany international has been training with Eintracht in an effort to stay fit, and he is anxious to get started with his new club.
"I'm delighted to be moving to Schalke. I had to wait a long time for the right offer to come along," said Hildebrand. "I had a good feeling about Schalke, which I didn't have about the other offers I'd had. I'm raring to go and am looking forward to the challenge."
