Scott Sanderson will not be on the Lipscomb sideline next season, as he stepped down as the school's head men's basketball coach after 14 years at the helm.

"After much consideration, I believe it is time for me and the university to go in different directions," Sanderson said. "I do believe we have made positive strides in guiding the program from NAIA to NCAA Division I competition."

Sanderson guided the Bisons to a 222-201 record during his tenure and led them to their first postseason appearance in 2006 when they reached the NIT.

Assistant coach Pete Froedden will take over Sanderson's role as the search for a new head coach gets underway.
