Japanese defender Gotoku Sakai has moved month loan deal, the Bundesliga club announced on Friday.

Sakai will join Stuttgart from Japanese side Albirex Niigata through June 2013, with Stuttgart having the option to make the move permanent.

"Gotoku Sakai is a very promising prospect, who's equally strong on either foot," said Stuttgart sporting director Fredi Bobic. "I've rarely seen a player so advanced as a right or left back at his age. We'll give him the time he needs to adapt to the Bundesliga and I'm confident he can become a valuable player for us."

The 20-year-old Sakai made his debut for Albirex Niigata in March 2009 and has gone on to make 74 appearances for the club.
