Brandon Rios claimed a split-decision victory, but not for the WBA lightweight belt. He beat Richard Abril on Saturday after he failed to make weight for a potential title fight.

Rios (30-0-1) came in two pounds over the 135-pound weight limit on Friday, making him ineligible for the vacant title he once owned. He won by scores of 116-112 and 115-113 and lost on the other card, 117-111.

Abril (17-3-1) saw a five-fight winning streak snapped by the judges.
