The San Diego Chargers will place wide receiver Keenan Allen on injured reserve after he lacerated his kidney making a touchdown catch against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8.

The Chargers have dropped to 2-6 after their Week 8 loss. Allen is expected to be placed on injured reserve at some point on Tuesday, but he is expected to return next season.

In his third season in the NFL, Allen was dominant through the first eight games. He had 67 receptions for 725 yards and four touchdowns, including three individual games where he eclipsed the 100-yard receiving mark. Allen was on pace to finish the season with 134 receptions for 1,450 yards and eight touchdowns.
