The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a five-year contract extension with first baseman Brandon Belt, as first reported by CSN Bay Area.
Belt, 27, is coming off his strongest statistical season of his career. In 137 games last season, he hit .280/.356/.478 with 18 homers, 33 doubles, five triples and 68 RBI. Since debuting in 2011, he has hit .271 with 63 homers and 237 RBI.
Belt was a fifth-round pick by the Giants in 2009 and has been the team's starting first baseman since the 2012 season.
The Giants now have Belt, catcher Buster Posey and shortstop Brandon Crawford signed through at least the 2021 season.
