Report: Boston Celtics unlikely to agree on extensions with young duo

Jared Sullinger and Tyler Zeller will likely become restricted free agents. David Butler II USA Today

The Boston Celtics like Jared Sullinger and Tyler Zeller. A lot. Both youngsters fit into their long-term plan as solid, hard-working bigs with a little bit more room to grow. But the Celtics value their long-term flexibility even more, which is why they probably won't come to terms on an extension with either player before the November 2nd deadline.

Here's more from The Boston Herald's Steve Bulpett:

Zeller is Boston's starting center and Sullinger is one of their better power forwards. Both compete on the boards, hustle in transition (particularly defense to offense) and have totally bought into Brad Stevens' sacrificial system.

It's unclear just how valuable they'll be as restricted free agents, but given where the salary cap is headed, it's likely some team will extend each of them a monster offer sheet.
