The Baltimore Ravens invited former running back Ray Rice to address their rookies as part of a player engagement program on Wednesday, the team announced.

"Rice, who played for the Ravens from 2008-2014, delivered an important message that included his story, both the good and the bad," the team tweeted on Thursday.

"He clearly had the attention of our rookies."

Three-time Pro Bowler Rice was released from the Ravens in September 2014 after video surfaced of the running back punching his then-fiancee in the face. Despite winning his appeal for indefinite suspension and being reinstated by the NFL, Rice has not played in the league since.

The 29-year-old also recently spoke to the Western Michigan football team.
