Hard-hitting outfielder Nelson Cruz and the Texas Rangers have agreed to a two-year, $16 million contract extension, the team said on Thursday.
Cruz, voted the American League Championship Series most valuable player slamming a record six home runs, played in 124 games for the Rangers last season hitting .263 with 29 homers and 87 RBIs.
Over the last three seasons, the slugging outfielder has averaged 28 home runs and 80 RBIs.
After breaking into the major leagues with Milwaukee in 2005 playing eight games, Cruz signed with the Rangers the following season and has spent the rest of career in Texas hitting 106 homers and driving in 323 runs.
