Quinnipiac has signed men's hockey coach Rand Pecknold to a contract extension designed to keep him at the school through the 2017-18 season.

The university did not release the terms of the deal, which supplants a contract that was set to expire at the end of the 2016-17 season.

Pecknold led Quinnipiac last season to a 30-8-5 record and the national championship game, where the Bobcats lost 4-0 to rival Yale in a battle of schools that are located less than 10 miles apart.

Pecknold is in his 20th year at Quinnipiac, where he has compiled a record of 367-238-65.
