MINNEAPOLIS -- A prosecutor has delayed a decision on whether to charge a Minnesota basketball player arrested on suspicion of criminal sexual conduct last weekend.

The Hennepin County Attorney's office on Tuesday deferred a decision in the case of center Reggie Lynch, who was released from jail when a 36-hour hold expired. The decision sends the case back to investigators for additional work. There is no deadline on when that work has to be completed.

Minnesota has suspended the 21-year-old Lynch indefinitely pending an investigation. University President Eric Kaler called the allegations "deeply troubling."

The 6-foot-9 player from suburban Edina didn't play last season as he sat out following his transfer from Illinois State. It was not clear whether he has an attorney. The university said Tuesday Lynch's suspension remains in effect.
