Flushing, NY – The Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder Casper Wells on the 15-day disabled list Monday with vision complications.
Wells was the losing pitcher and struck out four times in Saturday's 18-inning defeat to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The 28-year-old Wells is 1-for-23 with eight strikeouts and two walks since being acquired by the Phillies on Aug. 8.
Additionally, the Phillies selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Pete Orr from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and transferred first baseman Ryan Howard from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.
Orr was hitting .258 with 17 doubles, four homers and 31 RBI in 95 games with Lehigh Valley this season.
