Strasbourg, France (SportsNetwork.com) - Former champion Andrea Petkovic and Americans Madison Keys and Christina McHale moved into the quarterfinals at the Strasbourg International tennis event, a final French Open tune-up.
The fourth-seeded 2011 Strasbourg titlist Petkovic handled American Vania King 6-3, 6-2, while Keys upended eighth-seeded compatriot Alison Riske 6-4, 6-4 and McHale topped Aussie Casey Dellacqua 6-3, 7-5 on the red clay at Strasbourg Tennis Club.
Petkovic will meet Puerto Rican Monica Puig on Thursday, while Keys will encounter German Julia Goerges and McHale's quarterfinal opponent will be Kazakhstan's Zarina Diyas.
Meanwhile, Spanish qualifier Silvia Soler-Espinosa ousted seventh-seeded Chinese Peng Shuai 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.
Also on Day 3, Goerges doused American Lauren Davis 7-5, 6-4; Diyas got past Croat Ajla Tomljanovic 6-4, 7-6 (7-4); rising Italian Camila Giorgi came back to beat French wild card Claire Feuerstein 5-7, 7-5, 7-6 (7-2); and Puig leveled Croatian qualifier Mirjana Lucic-Baroni 6-3, 6-1.
One other quarter will pit Soler-Espinosa versus Giorgi.
