Pau Gasol and the Los Angeles Lakers are in trouble.

The Spaniard center had a subpar game in the Lakers' 93-81 loss to the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night.

The 7-footer scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 33 rebounds, but had five fouls while struggling to keep up with the Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki.

The Dallas forward poured in 24 points.

J.J. Barea, too, played in a critical role in the Mavericks' win. The Puerto Rican guard had 12 points and four assists in 17 minutes.

The Lakers trail the Mavericks 2-0 and have to keep their season alive in Dallas. Game 3 is set for Friday night.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks fell to the first-seeded Chicago Bulls, 86-73.

Center Al Horford led the Hawks with 14 rebounds and dished out six assists. But the gritty Dominican only scored six points in 44 minutes, and turned the ball twice.

The eastern conference series is tied at a game apiece. The series resumes in Atlanta on Friday.
