SAN DIEGO (AP) -- After two games against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers, the San Diego Padres have been outscored 18-0 and outhit 23-6.
Even though it's just two of 162 games, it's hardly pretty.
"It's frustrating," rookie manager Andy Green said after Scott Kazmir and three relievers combined on a two-hitter in the Dodgers' 3-0 victory Tuesday night. "I would fall short of calling it a funk.
"I think it is collective pressing," Green added. "I think the guys really want it right now. Everybody is in search for that first run of the season and guys needs to smile a little bit and relax and play baseball the way they can and they will be fine."
Kazmir (1-0) and relievers Pedro Baez, Chris Hatcher and Kenley Jansen combined to retire 26 of the final 27 batters.
After Cory Spangenberg beat out an infield single to second with out in the first, Kazmir retired his last 16 batters. Baez retired the side in the seventh, Hatcher retired the side in the eighth and Jansen got two outs in the ninth before allowing Jon Jay's infield single. Jansen struck out Spangenberg to record the save.
Kazmir was signed in December to help fill the void left when Zack Greinke signed with Arizona. He struck out five and walked none.
Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers beat the Padres 15-0 Monday, the most lopsided opening-day shutout in major league history.
San Diego has only six hits in its first two games, compared to 23 for L.A. Corey Seager had three hits for the Dodgers on Tuesday night.
The Dodgers scored three runs off James Shields (0-1) in the fourth. Seager singled and Adrian Gonzalez doubled ahead of Yasiel Puig's triple over the head of center fielder Jon Jay that one-hopped the 396 sign. Carl Crawford singled in Puig.
Shields allowed three runs and six hits in six innings, struck out six and walked one.
"I felt great," Shields said. "I think I threw two bad pitches. One to Adrian (Gonzalez) that I left up in the zone and the one to Puig that I got too much plate on it. I set him up exactly I wanted to set him up and got too much plate.
"The bottom line is we got outplayed today and we've got to do a better job overall in all aspects of our game," Shields said. "Kazmir did a great job on the other side of shutting our offense out. We've just got to keep continuing to grind."

Dodgers: Manager Dave Roberts expects 2B Howie Kendrick (calf) and C Yasmani Grandal (forearm) to be activated from the disabled list in time for the home opener against Arizona on Tuesday. ... LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu (shoulder) will throw a two-inning, simulated game Thursday as he continues his rehabilitation.
