Packers linebacker Walden facing Wednesday test

"We're shooting for Wednesday, but he'll go through an examination Wednesday morning. The plan is to see if he can go Wednesday, just to see where he is," McCarthy told reporters on Sunday after practice in Wisconsin.

McCarthy said there was no question of Walden, who was hurt in the victory over the Chicago Bears on January 23, losing his starting position due to his injury.

"We'll be fine. Erik Walden is our starting outside linebacker. He's not going to be replaced because of an injury. He's earned that through his production down the stretch here. He's going through a medical situation right now, and we'll give him every opportunity to get ready for the game," he said.

Walden, previously with Kansas City and Miami, was without a team in October when the Packers signed him.

Green Bay's rookie linebacker Frank Zombo has been back in training after spending six weeks out with a right knee injury and could feature in the Super Bowl against Pittsburgh.
