Alex Ovechkin loves playing for Russia.

Ovechkin has stated that he will play for his country in the Pyeongchang, South Korea Winter Olympics in 2018. If the NHL and International Ice Hockey Federation don't reach an agreement, NHL players may not participate in the Olympics. That doesn't matter to Ovechkin.

"The same situation was with the (2014) Sochi Games, they said NHL could not be allowed to come," Ovechkin said Wednesday, according to Russian news agency TASS. "I hope the sides will reach an agreement."

"Anyway, I and other players will definitely come (to the 2018 Olympics)," Ovechkin further stated.

Ovechkin has participated in three Olympics for Russia. He has never won an Olympic medal.
