MACOMB, Ill. (AP) Trenton Norvell threw three touchdown passes and ran for another and Western Illinois beat South Dakota 40-21 on Saturday night.

Norvell was 16 of 25 for 288 yards passing, and Nikko Watson ran for 139 yards and a touchdown to lead the Leathernecks (3-2, 2-0 Missouri Valley Conference) to consecutive wins.

Norvell ran for a 4-yard score, and threw a 21-yard touchdown pass to Lance Lenoir. Nathan Knuffman kicked field goals of 23 and 38 yards and the Leathernecks led 19-7 at halftime.

Ryan Saeger threw a 55-yard pass to Eric Shufford that set up Shamar Jackson's 10-yard touchdown run, pulling the Coyotes to 19-14 to open the second half.

Norvell connected with Joey Borsellino on a 61-yard scoring strike. Watson bullied in for a 1-yard score, and Norvell threw a 42-yard touchdown pass to Jaelon Acklin to stretch the Leathernecks' lead to 40-14 late in the third quarter.
