New York, NY – Jerry Layne will serve as the crew chief for the 2011 World Series between the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals.
Layne, a 23-year veteran, previously worked the 2005 World Series between the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros. This will be his 13th career postseason assignment.
Joining Layne will be Gary Cederstrom, Ted Barrett, Greg Gibson, Ron Kulpa and Alfonso Marquez.
Cederstrom was also part of the 2005 World Series crew, while Marquez worked the 2006 Fall Classic and Barrett umpired in the 2007 World Series. Gibson and Kulpa will be working the World Series for the first time.
All six umpires were assigned to a division series earlier this postseason.
