When people talk about big NASCAR crashes, larger tracks like Talladega Superspeedway and Daytona International Speedway usually come to mind.
But one of the wildest crashes in recent NASCAR history came at the 1-mile Dover International Speedway, site of Sunday's AAA 400 Drive For Autism NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race (FS1, 12:30 p.m. ET).
It was Lap 31 in the September 2009 race, back when 19-year-old Joey Logano drove for Joe Gibbs Racing. Logano was going down the backstretch when another car moved down and hit him, driving his JGR Toyota into the grass below the racing surface.
From there, Logano's car came back up the hill and got hit by the No. 43 Richard Petty Motorsports Dodge of Reed Sorenson. That sent Logano's car into a horrifying series of flips.
Fortunately, Logano walked away from the incident, a testament to the safety of modern NASCAR race cars.
